Book 3
In book 3, I find the fighting scene between Paris and Menelaos to be very interesting. In the earlier books, Paris is described as the bravest Trojan warrior but when it comes to fighting Menelaos, he was not as described. Paris is the one who stole Menelaos’ wife and Menelaos is determined to get her back and the only thing that was going to solve that is war. Both Menelaos and Paris agreed to fight each other and whoever wins, take Helen back. However, when it comes down to fighting, Menelaos was definitely stronger and take Paris down. Paris has the courage to take other people’s woman but does not have the courage to finish his own fight. He had to be rescued by Aphrodite in the middle of the fight and be whisked away to his room in Priam’s palace to be in bed with Helen. Paris’s brother, Hektor believes Paris is an embarrassment to the whole army because of his sudden disappearance.
