Book 8 - Zeus
It was great to finally see the mighty Zeus in action, and how important his decisions are. The First thing He does is to finally prohibit the Gods from interfering in the war. (Book 8 Lines 5 - 27 ) And then He goes to Mountain of Eda to watch the battle from above and to decide which side is going to win. After weighing their armies, He picks the Trojans to win the war. To help them He starts throwing his thunders at the Acheans on the battlefield .(which it was pretty impressive) I really thought that was going to be the end of the Trojan war but something happens, and it was the part that got my attention the most. When Agamemnon starts praying for Zeus to help him and his army (Book 8 Lines 228 - 244) you can see that not only this time, but throughout these books how powerful a pray can be, and how it touches the Gods. It is so powerful that even the God of all Gods could change his mind with a pray. So Zeus decides to let the Acheans live, and the war must continue...
Being the god of all gods, zeus could do whatever he wanted. Even if others disagreed with his ways, they couldn't do much about it. I enjoyed picturing zeus throwing down lightning onto the battlefield.
ReplyDeleteThis scene really represented Zeus's power. I can just picture him reigning down from the heavens throwing giant lightning bolts. It's like whatever damage the war has done is nothing compared to what Zeus is capable of.
