book 13-14

In Book 13 Zeus is happy with how the war is going so he leaves the battle field. However Poseidon realized Zeus is gone and he wants to help the Achaeans. Thus the Achaeans resist the Trojans assault. Teucer kills Poseidon’’s grandson Ampimachus and he wants to take vengeance. In book 14 Agamemnon wants to give up and go home but Diomedes says that is a cowardly act. Poseidon decides to give Agamemnon extra strength to the Achaean army to fight back. Meanwhile Hera tries to help the Achaeans behind his back by distracting him. Hera seduces Zeus and they make love while Hera tells Poseidon to help the Achaeans to victory. It is interesting to me how the gods keep trying to participate in war, the trojan war was suppose to be a war between the human races but now it seems to be a war of whoever gets the most help from the gods win.
