Book 20-21 general thoughts

In the Iliad there is a common respect for the Gods even though they are not deemed perfect or as great influences to all of the people. A godly figure usually exists to be worshiped or to be referred to when someone needs comfort or hope in a difficult situation, and free from flaws. On the contrary Gods in the Iliad have shown the opposite of being the perfect higher authorities, rather not being able to handle difficult situations and always having these internal disputes that the people have no idea about. When a battle occurs it's one of a personal God decision of who they would allow to die on a specific day and who they would save. Fate in Homer's world is who would lose in a battle more than the meaning of having a natural death compared to the real world. It is stressed that all the Greeks need to have respect for the mortals but what have these mortals done to earn that respect? Their existence in this story has caused more commotion..
And also I was wondering about the disappearance of Agamemnon and Nestor, and why is the focus mostly on Achilleus now ....
