book 20

In the beginning of book 20 I find it interesting how the introduction of Achilles to the battle field  to trigger a reaction by Zeus. At that moment, Zeus urges all the Gods to  intervene and pick the side to which they desired to be on. This very thought alone was disturbing, much less the implication that these means. Throughout the course of the books there have been several instances where the gods have interacted with the mortals. In terms of  there interaction on the battlefield, usually there actions lead to the tides of the war shifting to one side. There has never been  a point when both sides have the power of several gods competing with each other. This creates for me as the reader, a sense of the catastrophe of the battle. Also, Zeus  intention was to keep Achilles from causing too much havoc, this though by Zeus seems contradicory because was it not him that ultimately orchestrated the events to what they are now? For, Zeus to have this uncertainty of Achilles rage is an intresting idea that crossed my mind.
