Iliad Book 20

So far I believe this has been one of my favorite books in The Iliad. Zeus decided to lay back and not intervene with the war while also allowing the other gods and goddesses to do whatever they want. This is mainly due to Achilleus and his immense strength. Throughout the entirety of this book, Achilleus is rampaging throughout the battlefield and being constantly interrupted by the Gods in fear of him killing somebody that they care about. First, Achilleus draws his sword against Aineias and as he is charging, Poseidon decides to step in and temporarily blind Achilleus and bring his opponent to safety. Later on, in Achilleus's battle versus Hektor, Athene blows away Hektor's spear as it is airborne, then when Achilleus is about to strike Apollo swoops in and protects Hektor. Achilleus mocks Hektor and then proceeds to slaughter other Trojans. This whole book in The Iliad is very exciting due to the fact that Achilleus is seen as such a poweful warrior. So much so that the Gods feel the need to interrupt his fighting just to ensure that their allies do not fall so hastily.
