Respect for the fallen (Book 23-24)

After long tiring fighting, both sides do their rituals and put their fallen to rest. After all this brutal slaughter, it almost feels surreal for them to do this. It almost feels like they could come together to do this as friends and it would be totally normal. This really highlights just how vastly different war is back in the ancient times, and the attitude towards it. This is all of course ignoring the body of Hector, which is being dragged around like a sack by Achilles. The malice he has for his friend's murderer is quite salient here, and it truly shows us just how deep the bond the two of them had. Hopefully this will still be explored further despite it's end in the mortal plane.
