Its interesting to look at the relationship between gods. Zeus is the mightiest god who none of the other gods dare to anger. He favorites the Trojans and gives them information to help win the war. But as soon as Zeus leaves the battlefield, Poseidon gives Idomeneus a raging power to win the war for the Achians. It seems as though Poseidon defies Zeus's wishes. Which is a bold thing to do considering how feared he is and how much power he holds among gods. It says a lot about his charter.
It’s interesting what you say about Poseidon giving raging power to Idomeneus. It makes me think about the power of waves and the essence he has inherently flowing through him that comes from his home of the ocean. As compared to the staunch and more severe Zeus atop his mighty and unmoving mountain. And I agree, it was bold of Poseidon to defy Zeus’ wishes, considering he’s the little brother, but sometimes younger siblings tend to have less fear and take more risks. Line 355 “Therefore Poseidon shrank from openly defending them, but secretly in a man’s likeness was forever stirring them up through the army.”
